The past few days have been a whirlwind, but we want to stop for a moment to give thanks.

As we await the certified results of Tuesday’s decision, and begin preparing for the general election, I want to acknowledge everyone who supported me.

This campaign has been powered by the people, and I want to thank everyone who volunteered. We are deeply grateful for all who endured the harsh winter weather to collect signatures on petitions, to knock on doors and speak on behalf of the campaign, to distribute literature, and to galvanize voters back when I was unknown to many in Mount Vernon. Thank you for your continued support through our historic election night.

Thanks to everyone that encouraged their friends and family to vote, who came out to the cottage parties and the town halls and the debates. I want to thank my family, my husband Marvin, daughter Nia, my mother and father. Thank you to everyone who donated to my campaign, whether you gave one dollar or the maximum contribution. You made an investment not only in me, but in the future of our beloved city.

We are so close to the finish line, and to a brighter future for our great city. I ask that you remain positive, and disregard distractions, including any baseless gossip about the election and the results. I’ll be reaching out with more important information in the coming days. In the meantime, please feel free to email us at

SPHforMayor@shawynpattersonhoward.com to address any questions or concerns.

Let’s keep moving forward towards the general election and the ultimate goal of transforming Mount Vernon. We’ll need additional volunteers to help us get there, and I urge those of you who haven’t yet come out to join our efforts. We’ll also need donations to keep powering our campaign through the general election in November.

I have a comprehensive plan to address Mount Vernon’s most critical issues. And, change will come on Day One.

Mount Vernon, victory is within our grasp. Change is coming to Mount Vernon.

Stay tuned.
