With just days remaining before Mount Vernon’s mayoral primary, on Friday June 21, 2019, mayoral candidate Shawyn Patterson-Howard received four key county endorsements. Westchester County Board of Legislators Catherine Borgia (9th District), Christopher Johnson (16th District), Catherine Parker (7th District, Majority Leader) and Damon Maher (10th district) endorsed Patterson-Howard, selecting the experienced public service executive as the best candidate for the job.
Working with legislators at the county level will be integral to the transformation of Mount Vernon. On Friday, June 21st, the Westchester county officials joined Shawyn Patterson-Howard for a press conference to voice their support and share the reasons why they believe Patterson-Howard has the experience, managerial skills and vision to transform the city of Mount Vernon.
“I believe that Shawyn Patterson-Howard brings such a fresh, honest, clear plan to Mount Vernon and what she wants to do,” said Catherine Parker, Majority Leader (7th District, Chair, Energy & Regional Efficiencies Committee. Budget & Appropriations, Environment & Health and Labor/Parks/Planning/Housing Committees.) “She sees the importance of transparency and working with other elected officials.”
“The people of Mount Vernon and the people of Westchester deserve a leader with integrity, with intelligence, with a proven track record of turning around troubled organizations, “ said Catherine Borgia (9th District, Chair, Budget and Appropriations Committee for the BOL, co-chair, the Families Task Force, Member, Energy, Health & Environment, Intergovernmental Services, Legislation, and Labor and Housing committees.) “Shawyn is the future and we think her time is now.”
“Mount Vernon needs [Shawyn] to make sure that its relationship with Westchester County is solid,” said Christopher Johnson (16th District, Chair, Appointments, Member, Labor & Housing, Public Safety). More importantly, [voters need to make sure] that Mount Vernon has responsible leadership running the city.”
“[Shawyn] is a person of integrity, compassion and high purpose, and we need that at every level of government, says Damon Maher (District 10, Chair, Labor & Housing, Member, Budget & Appropriations, Intergovernmental Services, Parks, Planning & Economic Development, Public Safety, Seniors & Constituencies).
“I’m very grateful for these endorsements. It’s critically important to have partners on the county level stand with me to ensure that Mount Vernon has the support, the resources, the technical assistance we need to rise”, says mayoral candidate Shawyn Patterson-Howard. “This is about bringing people together, building relationships and serving Mount Vernon. We’re standing together to make certain that the people of Mount Vernon are served with consistency, and with quality. I’ve chosen Mount Vernon over and over again, and I pray that on Tuesday June 25, 2019, Mount Vernon chooses me to be its servant leader. “
